Doug's nephew works in the shuttle simulation division so we got to try out the cool stuff.
This is the shuttle motion based simulator.
It changes in all three degrees of motion. It flips on its back to simulate takeoff. The only thing missing is the G forces on takeoff and the lack of gravity in space.
View in the control area of the cockpit cameras.
Doug and me with our "flight instructor" Paul.
This is the actual simulator that the astronauts use to train for missions.
The instructor said that every shuttle pilot has used the very seat were sitting in.
After take off we were reset into a landing sequence where we got to land the shuttle. I didn't do to bad for an old helicopter pilot.
